How Hypno-Psychotherapy Works & FAQ's

Hypno-Psychotherapy works with both the Conscious and Sub-Conscious Mind. We talk about you and the issues and symptoms that you are experiencing, we explore your life both past experiences and present in order to uncover the best target to address while in Hypnosis. You may have 1 or multiple things that you would like to address throughout our time together, this will be discussed with you and agreed on by you before we commence any work together. It is a collaboration between you, the Client, and me, the Therapist as to what we do each session. How many sessions you need, will be dependant on the issue / symptoms that present themselves in our Conscious exploration and possibly adjusted after any Sub-Conscious discoveries made. As a ballpark you can expect that you will need anywhere between 4-12 sessions with me. In saying this, every Client is different and every care is taken to make our sessions completely Client Centred. If we arrive at session 12 and you feel you need any more, we can certainly discuss that togerther. Our work together isnt designed to continue for years, we obtain results quickly so there is no need to spend years coming to see me. The Client needs to be completely comitted to our work together, undertaking any "Homework" tasks given, either listening to personalised recording/s or keeping a thought and dream journal.

Frequently Asked Questions

🧠What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural altered state of mind, a narrowed focus of attention. Our brains move in and out of this state of alert focus several times a day without knowing it.

For example, have you ever driven home from work and not remembered taking your highway exit? Or perhaps sat in front of a fire, staring into the flames, feeling incredibly relaxed? These are examples of the hypnotic state.

🧠Is hypnosis safe?

Yes. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that our brains can use for beneficial purposes. There are a few instances where hypnosis would not be recommended for an individual but this is very uncommon. Examples include individuals who are acutely psychotic, or have diagnosed psychiatric disorders (due to their versions of reality being distorted) a child under the age of five, or an individual who does not give their permission to participate in the process.

🧠Can I be hypnotized?

Anyone with a normally functioning brain can be hypnotized. Some people may go deeper into hypnosis than others, however depth of hypnosis is not an indicator of success for change. A light hypnosis is suitable for most clients.

🧠What does hypnosis require?

Hypnosis requires 3 things:

1. a desire for change

2. permission to go into hypnosis (giving yourself permission)

3. the ability to follow simple instructions If you can answer “yes” to the above requirements you will experience hypnosis.

🧠Can I be made to do or say silly things while in hypnosis?

NO! During your appointment, you are aware at all times and ultimately in control of yourself at all times. This is a therapy session, not a stage performance.

🧠Is hypnosis mind control?

Absolutely not. Hypnosis occurs in your own mind and is a tool you use to create positive change for yourself. The hypnotherapist is merely a guide during the session. You are in control at all times.

🧠Can you read my thoughts?

Absolutely not, I only know what you choose to tell me. It is however, in the clients best interest to approach our sessions with complete honesty so that we can target the right issue for the best outcome for you.

🧠What are the side effects of hypnosis?

Side effects include a deep sense of peaceful relaxation, lightened mood, improved sleep, and rapid positive change!
